After one and a half semesters, I finally made it down to Cupecoy Beach, and it was devoid of people. Just as we arrived, a couple made their way up the stone steps up the cliff, leaving the beach to us. The sky was just beginning to change colors at that point, the waters were relatively calm, especially after the random spurts of rain we had for the first part of the week.
Watching the sun seemingly fall beneath the edge of the ocean is almost surreal. Warm still emanates from the sun as it sets, as opposed to in SF where watching the sky change colors is far more comfortable from a heated house. So perhaps this sunset wasn't taken on a balmy sunday evening but it was beautiful nonetheless. As sailboats passed across the horizon, we stood on an empty beach, the sand and surf to ourselves. It was definitely one of the most peaceful moments of the week by far, a nice little mid-week break. Nothing beats med school on a tropical island.
